EACL
Considering the challenges that people with intellectual disabilities face in their daily lives, involvement in sport can play a key role
in their individual and social development. Sport can be a valuable tool to address the challenges of inclusion and promote their development.
The aim of the EACL programme is to promote football for people with disabilities. The EACL project aims to promote a sport as a tool for
social inclusion. The project involves sports organisations and associations already implementing inclusive sports activities for people with disabilities and other stakeholders in football activities. The project team will create safe and attractive arrangements that motivate people with disabilities to participate in football activities, helping them to overcome barriers and challenges to participate in sport. This will be achieved by providing specialist skills and knowledge to experts working with people with disabilities in sports-related activities. As an aid for sports staff in implementing football activities for different target groups of people with intellectual disabilities, a manual on inclusive adaptations in football will be developed. The project envisages promoting the development of skills, physical and mental health, and well-being of people with disabilities and stakeholders through training and a pilot phase. Taking into account the results of the pilot implementation, policy recommendations will be developed for the inclusion of people with intellectual disabilities in order to raise awareness of the importance of promoting sport as a means of inclusion. The promotion of physical activities for and with people with intellectual disabilities represents the core of EACL and football, being the most widely popular sport worldwide, has the potential to be the most appropriate means of achieving social inclusion and improving overall physical and mental well-being.
The European All are Champions League for PwID: Developing fundamentals for football inclusion (EACL) project was funded by Erasmus Sport and implemented in 2024. In this project, in addition to Puzzle, the participants were:
