{"id":1979,"date":"2024-07-07T00:14:46","date_gmt":"2024-07-06T21:14:46","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/puzzle-se.eu\/?p=1979"},"modified":"2024-09-05T16:25:41","modified_gmt":"2024-09-05T13:25:41","slug":"day-center-without-walls","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/puzzle-se.eu\/en\/day-center-without-walls\/","title":{"rendered":"Day Center WITHOUT WALLS"},"content":{"rendered":"<div data-elementor-type=\"wp-post\" data-elementor-id=\"1979\" class=\"elementor elementor-1979\" data-elementor-post-type=\"post\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-c0a0c5a e-flex e-con-boxed e-con e-parent\" data-id=\"c0a0c5a\" data-element_type=\"container\" data-e-type=\"container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t<div class=\"e-con-inner\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-element elementor-element-f7c677c elementor-widget elementor-widget-text-editor\" data-id=\"f7c677c\" data-element_type=\"widget\" data-e-type=\"widget\" data-widget_type=\"text-editor.default\">\n\t\t\t\t<div class=\"elementor-widget-container\">\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<p>The aim of the project was to collect good practices at European level on initiatives that promote the active participation of people with intellectual disabilities in the community, supporting them to leave day centres and become active through volunteering, employment or community participation.<\/p><p>The idea of a day centre is not always positive, often day centres can be:<\/p><ul><li><strong>Institutional<\/strong> - control what people do<\/li><li><strong>Isolated<\/strong> - not linked to the community<\/li><li><strong>suffocating<\/strong> - do not allow people to develop and contribute<\/li><\/ul><p>Often people believe that the walls of a centre provide security. But walls don't create security, what creates security is:<\/p><ul><li>\u03b7<strong> belief<\/strong> that their voice will be heard<\/li><li>\u03bf <strong>check<\/strong> of their lives<\/li><li>the strong <strong>links<\/strong> with others<\/li><li>active participation in the community<\/li><\/ul><p>The aim of the project was to explore how day centres can be a different kind of space and to better understand what it means to be a Day Centre Without Walls. Our first definition is that a Day Centre Without Walls is a community where:<\/p><ul><li>The work that people do has a real <strong>meaning<\/strong> for them<\/li><li>The people have the ownership and <strong>freedom<\/strong> at work<\/li><li>The community is economically and socially <strong>sustainable<\/strong><\/li><li>People create a welcoming and inclusive <strong>community<\/strong><\/li><li>People work together as <strong>Equal<\/strong> for mutual benefit<\/li><li>Humans are carriers of a wider <strong>social change<\/strong> in their community<\/li><li>People are finding and forming deeper personal <strong>Relationships<\/strong><\/li><\/ul><p><a href=\"https:\/\/citizen-network.org\/library\/day-centres-without-walls.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">https:\/\/citizen-network.org\/library\/day-centres-without-walls.html<\/a><\/p><h3>The Day Centers Without Walls (DC WITHOUT WALLS) project was funded by Erasmus+
